How do you know the difference between chicken pox and measles?

I’m not sure which one a child has just caught
they look like tiny red pimples spread out over arm, shoulder, all over torso, not clustered some places clustered.

if the spots start to blister , it’s probably chicken pox.
If it’s either, it’s contagious.
If otherwise well, more likely an allergy or psoriasis.
Take him to the doctor (or even the local pharmacist) instead of messing about expecting people to guess with no actual information.

Do you keep up on your child’s vacines? Some parents opt out of them that is why I am asking. If you have kept s/he up to date there should be NO reason that they are Measels. Your child is vacinated against this in their MMR vacine. Either way bring your child into the Dr. IMMEDIATLY!!! If it is measels your child could DIE! I am not trying to scare you- but measels is DEADLY and that is why they are vacinated against them. Also you are not only putting your child and YOUR family into danger- but also EVERYONE else who comes into contact with him- or that has already been in contact with. Chickpox it takes almost 2 weeks for the first symptoms to arise after they already have the virus- this mean for those 2 weeks you don’t know s/he has it- you have already (possibly) infected EVERYONE your child has been around- including the grocery store. I hope this helps. God Bless.

The best thing is to go to a doctor no matter its a chicken pox or measles. But if I’m not wrong measles usually comes with fever for about 3 days then rashes appear. Hope this help
